Cherita McFrazier Elaiho is the Spanish teacher at Environmental Charter High School. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Cherita received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from Gonzaga University with a minor in English. Having worked in the field of education for 12 years, Cherita became interested in education while at Gonzaga University, and became a member of the International Honor Society in Education, Kappa Delta Phi. After graduating from college, Cherita worked in Special Education before becoming a Substitute Teacher, Academic Tutor and Secondary Spanish Teacher. Cherita enjoys keeping abreast on educational issues by attending professional development meetings, reading educational magazines, and attending education conferences.
Cherita pursued a Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Cal State Dominguez Hills to better understand how school districts and other organizations operate. Afterwards, obtained a Preliminary Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish with EL authorization.
Cherita was drawn to ECS because of its vision and mission statement, and the fact that the school is a college preparatory school that focuses on developing well-rounded students in an environmental atmosphere.
Moreover, Cherita is active in her community and church and holds various offices. She is a member of Sigma Pi Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. the National Association of University Women, South Bay Branch, and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Chapter. She also serves in various ministries at her church.
