David Jonas is a Special Education Teacher at Environmental Charter High School in Lawndale and has been with the organization since 2015. David’s key areas of expertise and responsibilities include the practice of functional learning through practical applications, one-on-one tutoring, career exploration, and ensuring that his students are prepared for life and college outside of Environmental Charter High School. David was drawn to Environmental Charter High School because of their integrated and personalized approach to teaching, which he applies in his classroom each day. He also knows that when he forgets his lunch, he can find something to eat hanging from the trees or growing in the school gardens. David’s favorite activity at school is beating the students in every staff vs student sports game.
David received his B.A. from Villanova University in Political Science, and is currently finishing his M.A. in Education from Loyola Marymount University, where he will receive dual teaching credentials in both Special Education and Social Science.
David is a native to the East Coast, and was born and raised in New York City. Outside of teaching, Davidenjoys spending his time in the Eastern Sierras camping, hiking and fishing with his girlfriend Ashley and dog, Tango. Additionally, David can be found on the golf course each weekend working on his putting.
