Lauren Pell joined ECHS in 2019 as the Environmental Science Teacher. Lauren’s key areas of expertise include 3-D, project-based learning, developing growth mindsets in science, and building a sense of agency within student populations. Previously, Lauren taught experiential science classes and summer college prep programs in Maui, HI to first-generation college bound students. In Quito, Ecuador she taught international science curriculums at both the middle and high school level, while supporting students in the Duke of Edinburgh award. Most recently, Lauren was a 7th grade science educator at the Geffen Academy at UCLA.
Lauren is at ECS because she is passionate about our collective climate future. She is happy to be a part of a community that views education as a model for change.
Lauren is a member of the Lanakila Outrigger Canoe Club, and competes throughout the spring and fall in long distance outrigger canoe races all over southern California. Races are often 8-12 miles in length, with the season ending in a 23 mile team race crossing the channel to Catalina Island!
Lauren is a double graduate of the University of Florida, first receiving her bachelors of arts in environmental science with focuses on law, policy, and education. She went on to earn her masters of education in secondary science. Lauren is from Deltona, Florida, and feels most at home when she can smell the salty sea air.
